Encaustic Paintings
Encaustic is a medium that I have been working with for many years, but more recently I have been focusing on using better materials, tools and best practices. I work with hot wax, manipulating it with heat from a heat gun or a small propane torch. I love the texture you can achieve with hot wax and how you can imbed objects and collage elements into the wax. I also use cold wax on top of the hardened hot wax to manipulate and layer color. I'm a member of the Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico and have a piece in their member gallery as well have been selected for two international juried exhibitions, Shifting Perspectives (2021) and Global Warming is Real (2020).
