Observations and Reflections on the Western Landscape
As I live and travel through the landscape of the Four Corners region of Colorado, I am struck by its beauty and history. This land, which has been transformed by water, wind, and the impact of people, inspires images I feel compelled to paint. My paintings reflect my emotional experiences with nature and often comment on human actions through the suggestion of a narrative.
For me, every idea demands its own expression. I approach each piece as a unique story. Sometimes, the work calls for simple shapes and a limited palette of colors. Other pieces are messy and complicated and reflect a more intuitive style. Each idea dictates the process, the media, and even the shape of the piece. Paint, wax, paper, and even sewing become my mediums that collectively create a series of observations and reflections on the western landscape.
